SWTOR Has Another F2P Weekend
That’s right folks, Star Wars: The Old Republic on the PC will have another free to play weekend this Easter.

Coordinating it all is like teaching elephants to do ballet.
We’re merging story in in a really seamless way. It doesn’t feel tacked on or added, it’s actually there from the ground floor. It’s actually adding to the experience and increasing that emotional engagement, which, you go back to our vision, that’s what it’s all about.
Star Wars: TOR - Origin Only for Digital
Developer of Star Wars: The Old Republic, Bioware, have made it clear that the upcoming PC MMORPG will be only available for digital download on EA’s Origin direct download service. This does not mean that the game will be download only or require the player to have Origin to play the game.
Stephen Reid of BioWare (Senior Online Community Manager) was quoted on the SW:TOR forums saying:
“While Origin will be the exclusive digital retailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic, that does not mean that Origin is required for you to access or play The Old Republic.”

This news will mean Valve’s Steam users will not be able to purchase the game from Steam’s highly popular store. It seems EA are pushing heavily with their Origin service as further suggested by continual mentions of the service at the EA E3 Conference this year. This could either be a disaster for SW:TOR sales, or a coup for EA in gaining a share of the digital download market. The question remains, will the highly anticipated Battlefield 3, also published by EA bear the same fate?
