The folks over at DSOGaming got these shots of a CryEngine 3 mod, showing a tribute to Shenmue. The modder that working on the project goes by the name of john1990. The shots show the Dreamcast star, Ryo Hazuki’s room. DSOGaming also provided original shots of Ryo’s room from the Dreamcast game. You should be able to see which ones are which pretty easily. It’s not known as to whether more locations will be created by john1990.
Crytek have been talking up their CryEngine 3 and it’s ability to be future proof for quite some time now. This video is a CryEngine 3 tech demo reel for Crysis 3. The game will undoubtedly be stunning due to the fine engine the team has created. It will be interesting to see how Unreal Engine 4 and CryEngine 3 compare in the next generation.
We think that Unreal Engine 4 has done a good job to catch up, but nothing is there that surprised us and we still believe CryENGINE 3 remains the benchmark.
This isn’t concept art for Halo 4, it’s for a Crysis 2 mod in development called Venerance: Sigma Octanus IV, posted over at DSO. The mod is set in the ‘extended Halo universe’, using the CryEngine 3 SDK. The story is said to follow the events from Chapter 19 to 22 in the “Fall of Reach” Halo novel.
The existing team is currently working on a Spartan costume for the Crysis campaigns. They are also recruiting for this next project. It seems ambitious and has the potential to be awesome. Let’s hope it gets round to being finished sometime!
I hope you never doubted the CryEngine 3’s potential. Here are some awesome shots made by the engine by the modder called Puppy and the 3D artist, Mark Ranson (via DSO). The first four screens are extremely vibrant, showing off the engine’s potential to create a huge range of colours. The latter pictures of the Nissan GTR clearly indicate the engine’s versatility. Crytek claims the engine is futureproof. Right now, I find it hard to disagree.
Crysis 3 time now. Here is the trailer that was shown at the EA press conference. As expected, the CryEngine 3 in action is beautiful for the overgrown NYC. A February 2013 release date has also been confirmed! Sweet.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R-Inspired CryEngine Indie Game Inbound
With S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 in development hell, a group of Russian modders are creating a CryEngine 3 game set in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R universe!

Crytek sure know how to make aesthetically pleasing games. Crysis 3 is certainly no exception to this rule. The game takes place in an overgrown New York City as a direct sequel to Crysis 2 whilst being a spiritual successor to Crysis 1 gameplay. The concepts and screens above are courtesy of AGB.
As promised, here is the debut Crysis 3 trailer. The stunning game is billed to be the series finest by the developers, Crytek. They have stated that they wish to return to the gameplay styles from the original Crysis. The game will come out in early 2013. Has a war torn New York City ever looked so fine?
Here is the first trailer…kind of…for Crysis 3. It’s more of a teaser, but nonetheless, it’s worth a watch. Don’t worry, it’s not just words, there is some footage, possibly using the CryEngine 3. Gameplay trailer is due April 24th!
