Gran Turismo 5 Sells 7.3 Million Worldwide

Polyphony Digital have issued some new figures today, illustrating how Gran Turismo 5 has sold 7.3 million copies worldwide. A large proportion of these coming from Europe. 

Gran Turismo 5 has sold just under 2 million more than the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue which gave drivers a taste of what was to come. Despite being criticised for the lack of ‘premium’ cars in the game (in other words, cars that were detailed inside and out), the game largely received positive reviews. 4.5 million of sales came from Europe, suggesting the brand remains strong and popular in the region. Asia (excluding Japan) was the worst selling region, totalling 240,000 units.

The game was released in November of last year and is planned to receive a large update with DLC.
