MW3 Generates $1bn. in 16 Days
The Call of Duty series has gone on to smash the records again (it’s own records of course). Activision has announced that after just 16 days on the market, Modern Warfare 3 generated $1 billion in revenue.
This makes Modern Warfare 3 the fastest enterainment release to reach the $1bn. mark in the fastest time. It also put the game in line for the highest grossing entertainment release ever.
The first person shooter toppled the 2009 cinema release of Avatar that reached $1bn. in 17 days. Despite all the record breaking and celebration, the team at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games aim to carry on making improvements:
“While the franchise continues to set records, our fans still seem to want more, demonstrated by our record setting start on Call of Duty Elite. We are committed to helping everyone connect, compete and improve their game, Call of Duty style.”
With another Call of Duty game most likely to release next year, will the series carry on to smash records? Will the momentum carry on? Or has this juggernaut seen it’s day?
